The festival of Holi, India's spring festival of colors, actually starts the night before with huge bonfires made up of all the dried leaves and branches left through the winter.
Known as Holika Dahan or The Evening of Bonfires. The fire symbolizes the victory of good over evil and also the triumph of devotion to god.
